HONEST WHISKY RATINGS

The Cabinet has long viewed most other whisky rating sites with disdain. Not only are they filled with absurd thesaurus munching adjectival descriptions, but their numerical ratings almost universally cluster in the high range rendering them useless. In that world all whiskies are above average, to paraphrase Garrison Keiler. Our Honest Whisky Rating system is based on anonymous voting during the meetings on a ten point scale where every number from 1 to 10 is used. These scores are then converted into the categories noted below: 
"Four Drams" equats to a score of 8.0 or higher, 
"Three Drams" = 6.0 to 7.9, 
"Two Drams" = 4.0 - 5.9, 
"One Dram" = 2.0 - 3.9, 
and the frightening "No Drams" = 0.0 - 1.9. 
The ratings are based purely on the enjoyment of the drink itself, with no reference to price, presentation or rarity.
